If you're going to Google "Coatigan", make it handmade
So you’ve typed “coatigan” into the search bar. You and half the country, apparently.
It makes sense. The coatigan is having a moment. It’s the piece that works when a coat feels like too much, but a cardi isn’t quite enough. Something soft, something warm, something you can throw on without thinking too hard.
But here’s where we need to be honest: most of the coatigans out there? Mass-produced, scratchy, and barely last the season.
Ours are different.
At Cienna, we’ve been working with the same family of knitters in Indonesia for over seventeen years. These coatigans are made by hand using old-school knitting machines—the kind you don’t find in factories. They’re made slowly, properly, the way clothes used to be.
Take a look at how it works!

The softest mohair-acrylic blend is what makes our knits so special.
On all our coatigans - actually, on all of our knits - the yarn is a mohair-acrylic blend. Soft on the skin. Not itchy. Not stiff. Just warm, wearable comfort that layers over pretty much everything. Denim, linen, wool skirts, even pyjamas—we’re not judging.
Colours? Think earth and smoke. Olive. Charcoal. Deep plum. Rich blends that don’t scream, but still say something.
If you’re going to add one thing to your winter wardrobe this year, make it something you’ll actually want to wear. Every day. Again and again.
